Ingleses, Week 32

This week was good here in Ingleses! I hope you all had a wonderful Pascoa (Easter) remembering the sacrifice that our Savior made for all humanity!! Let us carry this with us not only during this time, but forever and always. Here is what happened this week in FLORIPA!

Highlights:

  • Yesterday was Easter, which was sooo good!! We got so many treats and food from our sweet members, we got spoiled. That night we had a musical devotional about Christ which was awesome. Us missionaries sang "I'm trying to be like Jesus" and I sang a solo which was fun!
  • We knocked a ton of doors this week and actually had a lot of success! We went to this one house that let us inside!! He said that he was born catholic, and will die catholic....but we see a bunch of potential. We really could see them in temple white. Which was so cool!
  • We also had a really cool experience with a Jehovah Witness. My companion used to be Jehovah witness so I taught her to say that she used to be JW to every Jw we meet, and to say "do you want to know why I left!" and we actually got into someones house to teach a lesson which was awesome!!
  • I finished the new church book Saints ( in Portuguese), I was addicted and it was the best book ever, It really reaffirmed my testimony of the Restoration and of the living prophet that we have today!
  • Oh! This week I was craving sushi so I bought some-- it was awesome!!
  • We met this one man, and started talk about how we are missionaries of the church of Jesus Christ. then he proceeded to ask us if we believe in Jesus Christ...
  • We had the thought to stop by one of the people we are teaching, and shared a scripture with her and she started crying and said she really needed us to come by in that moment. Promptings from the Spirit are so special!

I know that God lives, that he sent His son to die for us, and that he is risen today!

I love you all!!

Ingleses, Week 31

Here is what happened this week:

Highlights:

Last day in Imbituba!! Went on a morning walk on the beach, finished packing up and crying on the inside to leave my home.

Got settled in to out new apartment! We are living with another duo which is so so fun, festa!!
So my bunkbed is crazy, when I move an inch the bed moves a mile....adventures on the mission!

Knocking doors and making contacts like crazy this week, I don't remember half of the faces or names, or streets, but it was good to work our buts off!

Had this old man listen to our message, tell us we were special and kind, then when I asked him to use the bathroom he said......no! for safety reasons....

We have two new people we are teaching Kaline and Auria mom and daughter. They are way special, and ready to make changes in their lives! Auria went to church with us, which was awesome!.

Had 2 referrals and we went to their apartment and taught a powerful lesson about the restoration. I felt a burning in my chest as I testified of its truthfulness. I love moments like this!!

Had a member load our fridge up with food which was an experience I have never had on the mission, it was so cool!!

This week I have been focusing on the Christ like attributes patience and faith. Definitely needed when opening an area and gaining a new comp. Have faith that miracles will happen and have patience to wait and hope according to the will of God!
One thing I have really learned is ALWAYs act on the first prompting, and you will never regret it!
Sorry a short email, I don't have any time because the internet crashed!!

Love you all!

Imbituba, Week 30

Oi all!

This week was a little crazy! I just got the news that I will be leaving Imbituba :( Feels like i am leaving my home and my family again, so that is hard, but i am excited for a new start! I found out that I will be serving in Ingleses, Florianopolis, and will be opening an area and training... So that is overwhelming! But I know that the Lord doesn´t call the qualified, but qualifies the called! Will be my motto during this transfer!

This week:

-Our investigator Dola really is doing great, he is stopping drinking coffee (he drinks one liter a day) and every time we walk by his house we see him raiding the Book of Mormon! It is the sweetest sight. He is remembering so much and learning so much. I love it.

-We taught our investigator Janiana about the Law of Chastity and she said that she wants to marry her boyfriend so that she can get baptized!! Now we are working on that! But she has such a sweet testimony of the gospel I love it!

-Alcedina is one of the new people we are teaching, she is a sweetheart, but has a lot of problems with self-confidence, so we put notes on her mirrors to help boost her confidence and help her to see her worth! Was a way sweet experience.

-We taught this one lady from Rio, and she was so so funny, she did not pay attention at all, throughout the lesson she would look at us and then ask us what our favorite color and random Q´s when we were talking about Joseph Smith... was way funny.

-Taught a lesson this week where I felt inspired to mention Job, and his experiences and trials, that really we are here to be tried and to prove our faith through it all, and like Job we will be blessed 10 times over. Our afflictions are just but a moment!

-Conferencia! Was so good, it was the best and most rejuvenating experience to hear from the Prophets and apostles of God. I loved it and I definitely received Revelacao pessoal. God speaks to us through his servants! "Whether by my voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the SAME"

I Would love to hear about your lives! Send me an email!

Much love,

Imbituba, Week 29

Wow! Another week on the mission!! Here are a few things that happened!

We went to the birthday party of Mae de Marlene (Missionary opportunity!) we got to talk to all of her family about what we do as missionaries, and then they wanted us to sing a song, so we sang Paz em Cristo in front of a bunch of people!

We bought cevada (Which I love) for Dola, and had "Cafe" with him. It was way fun, later that week we taught him and his daughter the restoration and plan of salvation. It was such a good, powerful lesson, she asked such good questions, and I felt power as I testified that our bonds on earth can be bound for eternity!

We met with less actives this week and testified of the importance of scripture study, and about the atonement. I love helping others to come unto Christ, and make their lives better and better.

We were making contacts in the centro, when we saw a huge group of jovens close to the bus station. It was a bit intimidating, not going to lie. But I saw this one joven, who looked a little tough, and I had the feeling I needed to talk to him. Buuut we were a bit scared of all of the young people making fun of us, so we walked away when I knew I needed to follow the promptings of the spirit. So I summoned up courage and talked to him, he was way sweet, and said he wanted to hear a message! Always follow the promptings of the spirit!

We moved our mattresses to the kitchen and slept there... it's the little things that makes the mission fun!

We had two old ladies call us beautiful then give us truffles. We shared a message with them, but they weren't really interested, buuut, hand of God!

We also made a contact with a lady that said right before she was praying to know what her life lacked!

This week we will hear from our beloved prophet. This week prepare questions that you want answered, and really prepare to hear the words of the prophets.

I know this Gospel is true! Christ leads his Church!

I love you all!

Love,
