Ingleses, Week 41

Soooo, crazy news! We are no longer missionaries of Ingleses B, but just Ingleses! Sister Nielson, and Sister Sanchez left, and the area got joined together... So now we have double the area, and double the work! Still here with my mission daughter sister Souza.

I really have a testimony that the Lord doesn't call the qualified, but qualifies the called. When we are constantly using the atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives, the Lord with strengthen and qualify us!

Here is what happened this week:

We met this way cool french guy named Julian that is living here in Brazil. We had the impression to give him a Book of Mormon. He said to give him two weeks and he will have it read! His beliefs are different than those of the church, But one thing I know, is the power of the Book of Mormon to change lives, beliefs, habits, etc. So I am excited to see this in his life.

We had a cool experience with this couple from Chile. They arrived here in Florianopolis many years ago, and were trying to build a house, they were so so tired, when two young men with white shirts showed up, rolled up their sleeves and started working on their house with them. They called these "mormon missionaries" angels. It was cool to see the seeds/examples of missionaries many years ago still sticking!

We taught Dayana and Julian and they said they have stopped smoking, drinking coffee, and alcohol!!! MIRACLE. This gospel moves lives. Julian decided that he wanted to be worthy to baptize Dayana, and ever since that they stopped. And they get married the 19th, baptism the 26th, and their goal is the temple!! AHH I am so happy.

This week I had an amazing experience chastising some people with love (and bold words) using D&C 122. READ IT. These are my favorite scriptures.

We had 5 people come to church this week which was such a blessing. Our investigator that we couldn't contact throughout the week, Odette, went by herself! I feel like a proud mom! I love seeing the changes that come as people are living the commandments and principles of the gospel.
I have learned the hand of God is in everything, we just have to SEE it, be looking, its there. God lives, he sent his son to die for us, use the atonement every day, you will never feel more joy!

We knocked doors in this way chic neighborhood... just proving the truth of Alma 31 and 32.
We followed the promptings of the lord in contacting people and knocking doors, and were blessed with many people that are so prepared.

This week will be another great week, now as missionaries of INGLESES!!!

I love you all, know that this Gospel is true, restored here on the earth to bless us. But you have to decided to follow ALL of the commandments and things the prophets are saying to be blessed. This is not a buffet of pick and choose what is convenient. ALL are the words of the Lord, and every day we can be better. So be who you want to be in 10 years tomorrow. That's the power of the atonement.

LOVE YOU ALL

Ingleses, Week 40

OI all!!

First of all: I LOVE Being a missionary. Even in the hard, tiring, and sometimes sad, weeks, I have never been so happy! I have never loved doing something more! It is crazy that I am already at the last week of the transfer here in Ingleses!

I just wanted to bear my testimony that I know that this gospel is true, Joseph smith is a prophet of God and that the restored church of Jesus Christ is here on the earth today! I love my savior and am so grateful for him!

Here is what happened this week:

We went to our investigators house (Dayana, Julian, and Mariana) and they surprised us with having their wedding date and invitation ready!! 19th de July! The baptism will be the 26th. It is such a blessing and privilege I have as a missionary to see the Gospel change peoples lives. Just in the time I know them they have changed so much! My heart is so full!

We taught a lady named Eliani this week who moved to a different area Saturday, but we taught her the restoration and it was so cool because after she said that she has been praying for some time that God would send her messengers from God, and that she feels like her prayer was answered!

We had a bus strike this week so we stayed in the part of the area close to our house for a large portion of the week, and met a bunch of cool people! We met one columbiano who is awesome so we are way excited to teach him.

We had district meeting that was soo good, and helped us work harder and be better this week! Right before we found an open fruit marked that was selling everything dirt cheap, so basically every day for breakfast I am eating mango, kiwis, bananas, star fruit, etc. LOVE BRAZIL!

This week I have thought a lot about Naman and his experience with listening to the counsels of the prophet, how sometimes we look at the commandments as "dirty water" but really they are the door to blessings and healing. (What is your commandment from the lord that is like the dirty water in the Jordan river?)

That is all for this week! Love you all, be safe and follow the Lord!

Love,
Irma crofts

Ingleses, Week 39

Ola familia e amigos!!

This week was crazy, here is what happened:

Got to go on exchangss with my favorite mexicana....Sister sanchez! Best day ever!!

Sister Souza had a rough week because of a severely ingrown toenail that she had to take out in the center of the city (1 hour bus ride) without anesthesia!! She was almost screaming in pain...poor thing. We were there all day for two days!

Visited the family of Irmao tamar that has a daughter not baptized and wife less active, they are such a special fam, and we are so excited to help them!

We visited Leni, our reference and she is so special and prepared! She is so excited to read the book of Mormon, and we are so excited to see it move her life!

Saturday we went and watched the baptism of the other sisters convert, marco antonio, and it was hilarious because the bishop lost the keys to the doors that open to the font...so what did they do? knocked down the door!! It was a great example to me of really what faith is! You could wait and pray that someone would find the key...or...knock down the door!!! Really faith is action, and this was faith in action! May we all have the FAITH to knock down the doors that are impeding our progress <3

Sunday we knocked doors and visited some of our investigators, it was so great to find some more people to teach that are open to hear!!

Today we went to the center of Floripa and my BFF Thaina from Imbituba took an hour and a half bus ride to visit me! We got burger king went to the mall, and took a bunch of fun pics, was a blast!
I love you all! Have a great week, keep the savior in your thoughts continually, because of him we are able to do anything!

Love,

Sister Crofts

Fun visit with Thaina!

Ingleses, Week 38

OIIIII tudo bem? This week was really good! I learned a lot and we had a lot of success in the area! I love being a missionary! Here is what happened!

ZONE CONFERENCE! we had a great time, I learned a lot! But really the highlight was that our investigator Dayana called us during the conference and said they wanted to get married so that she and her daughter could get baptized!! It was the best and I definitely cried. Blessings! I love seeing people gain unwavering testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ restored to the earth!

This week we set 3 more dates for baptism with Clercio, his son Lucas, and Mom Claudete! We are so excited for them and the progress they are making!

We had this awesome experience with this one lady we met, Monalisa, she has a husband that may or may not be possessed. Her house had some bad feelings, and she said that there is something stopping her from praying in her house, we had to go out to the road to pray. But she loved our message, and we are going to try and help her and her husband.

We taught about the word of wisdom this week to Dayana and Julian, and they are doing so good, they have such strong testimonies and desires to follow God!

We taught this one referral Leni and Patricio, that were so so prepared, she loved especially our message about the restoration, and they said that they would pray to know for themselves! It was such an awesome lesson, and when sister Souza was sharing the first vision, I felt the spirit so strong, and I felt that Leni felt it. It was way special!

We had soooo much rain this week. Not just rain, but heavy rain, without stopping! It always makes the missionary work more interesting, and makes us catch a lot of waves from the cars on the road, but it is the best, and makes me laugh so hard! haha!

We had this amazing experience with a woman named Elisangela. We were walking on the road to make contacts and we saw this woman pushing and empty baby stroller, crying hysterically. I felt strongly to stop her and talk to her. She didn't want to be stopped, but we stopped her, and helped her. She was wanting to commit suicide, and was praying to God to show her a sign of love, or help. And that is when we stopped her. We walked with her to the police station to sort out some of her problems when we saw a sign that said, "gone to dinner" and the police station was closed!! Ohh Brazil..... we ended up getting help from another church that was open (was night) and their priest said a crazy yelling prayer, with his hands on their heads, screaming and shaking them....Lets just say I am a missionary of the only true church...I really gained a testimony of God's love, and following promptings!

That's it! Love you all!!

Love, Sister Crofts
